A binary star system, Polus was the homeworld of the near-human Pyn’gani species, and an ice world with frozen oceans and stormy mountain ranges. Polus became a Republic mining world some time prior to 1,000 BBY, remaining as such through the Clone Wars, and supporting the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War until Imperial temporarily occupied the planet in 0 ABY. In 3 ABY, Polus was conquered by the Zann Consortium and the Pyn’gani enslaved. Due to their arctic climate, Polus was instrumental in the development of carbon freezing.

During the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, it was one of many system in the region that was conquered by the extragalactic empire.
