The planet’s moons were inhabited by investors and businessmen from across the galaxy, though the planet never officially joined any galactic government. By the time of the Galactic Civil War, the Bilar were studied by Imperial anthropologists for their ability to mentally meld into hive minds.

Following the war, Ogem became an Imperial world until its openly supported the Rebel Alliance, becoming the target of an Imperial bioweapon.

During the Galactic Civil War, the planet came under Imperial jurisdiction until after the Battle of Yavin in 4 ABY, when the citizens of Vandron were able to force the Imperials offworld and declare neutrality.
