All but Csilla were uninhabited worlds, with Cessed being a seared rock, Repplic a gas giant, and the outer two planets being icy rocks. Csilla was a frigid world of icy mountain ranges and arctic tundra due to an ice age event circa 5,000 BBY.
As early as 25,500 BBY, humans colonized Csilla, genetically evolving into Chiss over the millennia due to minerals in the planet’s hydrosphere. Due to the harsh environment, the Chiss managed to develop advanced technology and achieve space travel early in their civilization, allowing them to colonize the worlds of Chiss Space.
Capital of the Chiss Ascendancy, Csilla drove most of the philosophy behind the Chiss’ civilization, leading them to be staunch isolationists for most of galactic history. The Chiss maintained a nominal allegiance with the Sith Empire by 3,681 BBY, during the onset of the Great Galactic War, but returned to isolationism following the series of conflicts between the Sith and Republic belligerents.
Csilla saw renewed galactic interest during and following the Yuuzhan Vong War, as the Ascendancy returned to galactic affairs, however the Chiss restricted passage to Csilla. Csilla retained its connections to Bastion and the Fel Empire by 130 ABY, though still insisted on restrictive travel measures to Chiss Space.

The Rata Nebula was a nebula of interstellar dust and debris, containing proto-stars and other developing star systems. As of 36 ABY, the only mature star system in the Rata Nebula was the Rhigar system.
