Clone Army Customs (CAC): Minifigures http://www.clonearmycustoms.com Do you Love Lego? Sure, we all do, Lego and Star Wars go together like Millennium and Falcon, like Han and Chewie, like Endor and Ewoks. Clone Army Customs and my friend, Tyler Page, is a great resource for Lego compatible minifigures of very high quality and detail. I met Tyler at our Local Brickfair a few years ago; so if you frequent any Lego Convention, look for CAC and Tyler in the vendors section; here is a link to their events schedule. Born of the popularity of Filoni's The Clone Wars TV show among many fans, you would think that CAC are Kaminoan Cloners with how many minifigure troops they have around. Here are some favorites. Grand Admiral Thrawn minifigure:
Back in 2015, before Grand Admiral Thrawn was commandeered and his history changed by the New Star Wars D-Canon, Clone Army Customs developed a minifigure of this beloved and feared Expanded Universe Character. You may say, “but now Thrawn is a part of the new canon, I can go to Walmart and buy a Lego minifigure of Thrawn.” However, if you take a closer look at that official Thrawn Lego minifigure, you will notice he bares the wrong ranking insignia, as any dedicated fan would know. According to that official minifigure, Thrawn is a regular Admiral, not the Grand Admiral we know and admire. Well, at Clone Army Customs, those tiny details do matter; You will notice in the attached picture, not only the correct insignia for a Grand Admiral, but the seam details on the uniform are there, as well as the gold braiding on the shoulders, and CAC will even give you a Ysalamir (Lego Rat) with your figure to block the Force powers of any approaching Jedi. You can Order your own Grand Admiral Thrawn minifigure here. Note: Lego made the same mistake with their official Admiral Yularen minifigure give away, whose insignia makes him a Colonel, not the rank of Admiral as he was presented to have in the Clone Wars TV show (Thanks, Filoni). However, in the original Expanded Universe, Yularean WAS only a Colonel in the ISB, so you may take it as a small win for the EU, that the Yularean minifigure is more accurate to C-Canon of the original Expanded Universe. Commando Gregor minifigure:
I personally liked the Commando Gregor character from Filoni’s Clone Wars. It made me sad how his own creator chose to make him unrecognizable and “Squirrely” in Rebels, but this minifigure also has the details I love from Gregor’s original debut. Whether you skipped that episode, or prefer to think of Gregor as dying a hero, so the D-squad could escape, this remarkably detailed Republic Commando Uniform is a fantastic addition to any collection.
"Darman" (RC-1136), affectionately known as Dar, was a clone commando of the Grand Army of the Republic and member of Theta Squad, Omega Squad, and Squad 40, respectively. His first appearance was in the novel Republic Commando: Hard Contact of the popular Republic Commando book series. Trained by Kal Skirata, Darman adopted the Mandalorian culture as his own. Clone Army Customs also offers a variety of Republic Commando figures and accessories to build your own army. Even if you are just a fan of the Republic Commando game, there are more standard versions of the Republic Commando Uniform to make up your own personal Alpha or Delta Squad; Also a various Stormtrooper and Clone trooper varies with his Build a Clone offerings, along with a few superhero minifigures.
Also, Tyler from Clone Army Customs has also assured me the MANDOs are coming (below is a preview rendering), as well as a Mara Jade minifigure.
Granted, I’ve already pieced together my own Mara Jade minifigure from official Lego Parts, but I will still give the Mara Jade from CAC a look, as soon as she is released.
I call this one Force Bond; an Official Lego Luke Skywalker (From Lego Advent Calendar) with my pieced together Mara Jade minifigure. What about you?
